DINING AROUND EAST NAPLES WITH PAUL & DONNA KOLBIAZ

We hope you've had an opportunity to try one or more of the restaurants we've enjoyed in the last few months.  What fun this has been!  This month we visited "The Real Macaw" on Bayshore Dr.  Our party of 5 had a delightful experience dining in a tropical atmosphere unlike any other in Naples..........and there was even a REAL Macaw!  There was something on the menu to please everyone's palate from the strawberry butter on the freshly made johnnycakes, through the marvelous selection of gourmet Caribbean entrees, to desserts to die for!  There was a nice variety of fine wines and beers to choose from as well.  We felt as though we were pampered the entire evening.  This is one restaurant you don't want to miss!  It's a place to celebrate a special evening, special event, or just treat your special someone. During this off-season they are open for dinner on Friday & Saturdays.  Although not requested, reservations are suggested.
Wednesday's have been designated as Appetizer Night, so we decided to go back and sample the offerings which range in price from $4.95 to $8.95, while we were treated to a strolling musician.  We were thoroughly pleased as we enjoyed another truly enjoyable evening.

We decided to have breakfast this month at "M&M Down Home Diner" and were glad we selected this place, which looked like a little farm house inside.  The food was just what the name suggests: down home cookin', which we love, and the prices were from yesteryear.  This restaurant is located right next to Bob's Barber Shop, in the Winn Dixie Shopping Center adjacent to the Village Falls Shopping Center.  They serve breakfast and lunch and even offer free delivery from 7AM to 3PM.  Would you believe bacon for $.95?  The food and prices were both very good.  The luncheon menu had everything from sandwiches & salads to the real "down-home" serious southern lunches like Pot Roast, Country Fried chicken or steak to Pot Pie and all you can eat Chicken & Dumplings.  The highest priced luncheon on the menu was Grilled Port Tenderloin w/augratin potato for $7.95.  You'll be glad you tried this restaurant.

We're happy to say that the owners of these restaurants live and work in East Naples, so let's support these fine establishments.

Next month we'll try to list all the restaurants in East Naples and categorize them according to what meals they offer, ie: breakfast and lunch only, fine dining, etc.  Your suggestions on new places to try, great places to try, etc., would be more than welcome.

Till next month,
Paul & Donna
